I'm not sure who thought that Billy Squier singing along with a chorus of MTV DJ's would be a heartwarming holiday message, but it was probably somebody at Capitol Records.
This was the first of several MTV Holiday videos, and the official Billy Squier site credits Squier as the director. I'm not sure how much directing it took, but be that as it may: as you can see, everyone is rocking out, including original MTV DJ's Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood and Mark Goodman, and some strange box-belly Santa who goes apeshit in the middle of the video. It's a reminder of a more innocent time, when MTV still played videos, and Martha Quinn had a mullet and pearls.
Years later, this is literally Martha Quinn going, "WTF was up with my hair?"
