Scene Queen is blowing up this week, and we've got lots of news to share about the movie!

1st: We're an IndieWire Project of the Day!

1st: We're an IndieWire Project of the Day! Which means we're up for IndieWire Project of the Week, and yes - if we win that, IndieWire Project of the Month. So yeah, on top of begging for money for the Kickstarter, I'm about to be one of those annoying people who bugs you a million times to vote for their movie in a poll. But seriously, it's kind of a big deal because we could win a consultation with SnagFilms, and I love SnagFilms.

2nd: We're a Friday Download at BitTorrent!

Have you seen my seen my super amazing interview about Scene Queen on the BitTorrent Inc. Friday Download? I talk about online bullying, the inspiration for the movie, and why I think technology is changing the landscape of indie film for the better. Oh yeah. Cause I'm awesome like that.

3rd: We're still Kickstarting, Y'all!

There's nine days left to be part of the Scene Queen Kickstarter and we've already blown past our minimum funding goal of $10,200! About Variety Photoplays

Variety Photoplays was a movie theater on 2nd Avenue in NYC. It started life as a nickelodeon in the early days of "flickers," and ended up a sleazy porno theater in the 80's. It's also the subject of "Variety," Bette Gordon's feminist post-punk movie, written by Kathy Acker. It was closed by the Department of Health in 1989.

"The lights buzzing on the underside of the marquee, when they were on, enveloped the passerby in a warm, glowing field. People going past the theater, even in the daytime, got a whiff of vintage celluloid, and at night it was intoxicating."
